This week we invite you to sit back, relax and have a mental margarita as we discuss the soundtrack to 1989's Earth Girls Are Easy. This movie is a lot of things all at once. It's a bouncy 80s sex comedy; it's a parody of MTV-obsessed LA youth; it's a sci-fi film with a wacko retro-future aesthetic. It's also a showcase for Julie Brown's brand of humor and music, and man do we get a lot of that!
We've also got the B-52s! And Nile Rodgers! And Hall & Oates covering The O'Jays! This soundtrack is all over the place, but how does it all hang together? Join us as we sort it all out.
SHOW NOTES:
- Geena Davis singing "The Ground You Walk On"
- Joe has discussed the Star Wars Holiday Special at length on his other podcast.
- Intro: "Dance Rocket" by Jesse Spillane
- Outro: "'Cause I'm a Blonde" by Julie Brown
