It's party time! P-A-R-T...Why? Because this week we're jumping in with both feet to discuss 1994's The Mask! This year marks the 25th anniversary of one of Jim Carrey's breakout roles, and we're here to talk all about it. The movie's soundtrack sits at an odd moment in 90s music, a crossroads between new jack swing and the neo-swing revival. As a flashpoint for the swing revival, The Mask is more of a false start. Still, that didn't stop the movie from becoming a box office smash and sending Carrey's career into the stratosphere.
In this episode, we discuss tracks from Royal Crown Revue, Xscape, Fishbone and, yes, Jim Carrey. It is downright impossible to talk about The Mask without mentioning a little ditty known as "Cuban Pete". Brace yourselves!
